One last thing, does the rear brake only trigger the brake light..not the front one?

When the front brake lever is pulled it should operate the Rear brake light if its not check the switch on leaver is working ok sometimes a spray with wd 40 gets it working ok.

Just had a look at the front brake leaver, there is nothing else attached to it apart from the brake cable going to the front brake. There appears to be an opening where something may go, but that something is not there!.

I pressume thats what you mean, a switch that activates the brake light.

Is this a fail?

Lessus I am slightly confused here. Your bike is 1997 Bullet and so this would be its 12th MOT. Did it have a stop light switch last year or in any preceding years? How long have you had it?

Taken from the MoT testers notes:

Machines first used on or after 1 April 1986 must have a stop lamp that operates from both brake controls.

However, a small number of machines first used from this date were approved with the stop lamp operated by only one control. A machine should only be failed if you are certain that it was originally manufactured to operate from both controls

That opening below the brake cable on the f/brake lever mounting is where the stoplight switch should live.

Thanks for that!

Part ordered.

The bike came over here in 2002 and as far as I am aware has just sat there, hence milage of 16 km and the flat tyre when I swapped my Vtr for it.

Hello Lessus, I had a look at your Ebay advert 120862031866, it would be a shame to sell it due to minor problems, I'm sure someone local to you would help you with it.

I would help, or maybe even buy it, if I was closer.

Thats a good idea!.

If anyone lives near Sunny Stockport (Cheshire) and could maybe spare half an hour to give the bike a gander, it would be very much appreciated.

Tea or perhaps something stronger would be provided!!!!
