Ok why is it so that after new everything the engine will start from stone cold but when it becomes hot and you switch off it will not restart again until the engine is cold again?
By advancing the ignition this means the engine will start when hot but not from cold. Basic Formula: Cold start= 10 mile ride = stop for fuel =wont start as engine is now hot= wait 2.5 hours for engine to cool completely. but if you need to go anywhere on time call AA or find alternative transport= completely illogical problem and sore head. ah is that all well not quite if you retard ignition then you then have an engine that starts easily from cold but once up to temeperature if you have the audacity to stop or stall at a junction you are not going to re start the engine until it is stone cold. bearing in mind that the engine runs normally on both these stator positions with only minute amounts of advance or retard adjustment . Ah automatic advance and retard mechanism seems ok not stuck or springs not stretched. Flummoxed am I any ideas

Hi Patrick,
A quick method for remouving water in fuel (especially in the carb area) is to poor a drop of acetone in the fuel pipe : Acetone is water miscible, and fuel miscible too...
Hope it will help you
Claude
