"Another Alan... As was your initial post........" Well, my post read "How would you know that a speedo on an A65 is accurate up to 130mph? Your mate must have the world's fastest A65!!"....................Your subsequent comments confirm that it it is amongst the fastest A65's around (without having mentioned all the work done to the bike,) so was my reply 'speculation?'

Hey, Tomshayes, can you chill out a bit? You come across as awfully stroppy, and really you can't blame people for questioning your initial email when you didn't mention it was a highly modded A65. Quite honestly, I wonder what people get out of doing what your mate has done; after all, it sounds like the only original A65 engine parts are the crankcases - it hardly counts as an A65 any more, does it?

Now I am very confused here, can someone help me understand?. In less than 24 hours the bike has gone from a "Cafe racer" to, a "Road race special" to, a "Flying sprinter" whatever the last one is?.

Now back in the 60s- 70S I used to build and tune Velocette's for racing and can't remember ever seeing anyone racing with a speedo on their bike let alone lights for night time speed testing on the road with a following car to prove the speedo works.

Yes an A65 can easily be tuned to attain 130mph, I have in the past tuned far lesser bikes to higher speeds than that without too great an effort.

Well Norm 80 dont sound right to me for a 750.. My 350 Bullet will pull 70> It's had the higher comp piston fitted and thats it at the moment.. C:R About 8:1 with the 0.5mm head gasket fitted.

I will be fitting the competition valves and cams as supplied by Mr H and Mark (A65) will be gas flowing the head for me to take a 30mm Keihin carb with accelerator pump.. He is also milling 2mm off of the mating face to raise the compression over 10:1.. Free flow exhaust and close ratio gearing... Should see 85-90 MPH with that set up in the right conditions... Henshaws have had 36BHP from a 350 Bullet which puts it on par with a 350 BSA Gold Star...

Hitchcocks 500 kit will push 52BHP..... A well set up 500 Goldie was around 50BHP... Std 700 Constellation was 50 BHP so there's definitely something not right with your Interceptor!....

What C:R are you running? Carbs?..Jetting? Exhaust system?

If we all recall my original post was about accurate speedos not tuned bikes!!..

Another Alans reply was to scoff at the fact that it was on an A65.. if I had said it was on the space shuttle it would make no difference!!!...

It was about accurate speedo's.

Tom we have a number of Big Twins here and I doubt any of them would pull much more than 80 mph

Well Norm my 59 Connie would pull a ton and cruise at 80.... My 73 500 Daytona was lighter and quicker with 43BHP at the back wheel!

Tom I just read an interesting post from one of our members out here who was going to bring his 500 twin to the AGM but has decided to bring his 535 Lightning because it is faster
