Hello again----------as an additional try Google---------------------------www.strappe.com/plugs.html ---------------------plenty of useful stuff and may explain the better performance you are getting ??

Hi Alan R. Yes that's the one. Doesn't foul the piston crown and runs cooler because the electrodes are a very dark brown compared to other plugs which are lighter brown. From the top of the compression washer to the tip of the electrodes is around 24mm. The standard plug ran well and I also tried an iridium plug which was pants! LOL. Give the NGK a try and let me know what you think.

Hello Wallace-----got one of those NGK BUR6ET  plugs but will have to add a small spacer as I have Mr.H's 8.5 piston in.---- the nose just touches the crown.To-day, starting  with head and barrel off, from 13.00hrs. I had the bike running by 18.00hrs including dropping a tray full of 6mm nuts on the floor and re-routing the de-compressor cable 3 times---what a stupid set-up !!! That's with the standard plug. I'll fit the 6ET to-morrow to chack the difference in starting, idling etc.  Be seeing you.

Surely the issue with the mikicarb isn't the design or quality of the carb but the size of the throat. At 15/16ths" (I believe) there is only so much air that can get through. The most dramatic difference is giving the bike the opportunity to breath properly at full throttle. Obviously the cam profiles and exhaust will also provide a similar restriction but I think even in standard form the Bullets are rather asthmatically carbureted.

Hi Alan R. How did you get on with the new spark plug?

Hello there Wallace ------------- to be honest i haven't been able to give it a full try-out yet due to other bike repair commitments for a cash-paying customer ---( the best kind), plus I still can't get this 28mm Mikcarb to settle down properly. I actually have two of the little swines but the intention has always been to ultimately fit a 32mm Mk1 Concentric kit from our hosts with a pancake filter to match. Am still saving up for that. When fitted and running ok then I will be exploring the SU idea that I mentioned earlier. Meanwhile the Mikcarb has NOT provided the stable, running set-up that I need to rely on before starting anything else. Oh-well.

Hi Alan. Let me know how it goes. I'm thinking of moving my needle back 1 notch on my Mikcarb because it might be running a bit too rich. We'll see what happens.

Hi Wallace-----well, since last we talked quite a lot of "Events" have been going on here at Bluestone Engineering ( an old habit from when I was self-employed). A bit of cash serendipity saw me travel to our host's "Chateaux de Chadwick" and coming away with a 32mm Mk1 Concentric Kit, no less. However, paying job is now in the re-build mode so must see that completed asap. Meanwhile , there is a very real possibility that I might be exchanging my 2005 4-speed Classic 500 for a 2003 Bullet Sixty Five ( 5-speed, L/H change ) in the Classic black & gold finish with a Mk2 Concentric fitted. If that goes through then the Mk1 replaces the Mk2 (don't like the choke system---same as on the Mikcarb) which will  go on E-bay. THEN--- I'll get to trying that plug and tell you how it performs. PS---- I also have a rebuilt  Honda 750/4 Automatic engine to re-fit & comission ---plus a PC50 re-bore, Mot and sell. Oh-----and something called }--- sleep ?? Must give that a try, sounds good. ta-ra 4 now.

Sorry to expose my woeful ignorance here but are these bigger Mikicarbs you are discussing here actually Mikunis for Japan or do the Indian ones come in all sizes? I've only seen the little ones on bikes imported from India which are mostly domestic models bout for a tour and then shipped back.

Hi Alan R. I owned a 750/4 in the early 80's - it was a lovely stable big bike but the cam chain rattled like a rattly thing ha ha! A wee question about my Bullet...what would you recommend for gear box oil and engine oil?
