The only thing i can see is you mentioned you used ATF.Recomended is be ATF F(Ford) fluid.I find
this borders on too grippy used in a 535 Lightning 4 speed and never slips on my 612 5 speed.

Friend had the same problem last fall with 95 500.After a couple hour ride and much slipping we decided to check out adjustments etc..Turned out it was a clogged up cable down where it turns to transmission.The springs had enough force to make the lever feel right but wouldn't fully engage plates.I think the guys with the cable replacement idea have it nailed!

Like Colin F, I found that ATF type F for Fords was too grippy; the clutch was either in or out, no gentle slip on take-off. Why not give that a go. I now use Penrite ATF and have smooth take-offs and no slip.

If it was "too grippy" Colin and Leon, I would be thrilled to bits! It will be coming off come end of September for something more "worthy".

I have fitted a couple of Newbie clutches and they are great fit and forget

I've Googled Newbie Clutch but all I get is questions about clutches from newbies. Who makes Newbie clutches?

Sorry Simon, I think it is spelt Newby as in Bob Newby racing, something like that beautifully made clutch but heading out towards $1000 by the time we get them here
