Yes it is; that’s what I do. I can’t see the point in starting and running an engine for a few minutes just to check the oil. Does more harm than good.

Yes John, that's what I do every time I arrive back home. Ride up to the front of the garage and put the bike on its centre stand, engine still running. Switch off, and go get changed , have a cup of tea? When I go put the bike away in the garage a quick look at the oil window to confirm my level. I have never had to top up any of my enfields between services.
