Enfield dealers should have demo bikes available.A test ride is the only way to find out if it's for you.

I did have a test ride and found my knees hit the crash bars (I am 6' 2") even so I loved the bike and have waited for a few weeks after before ordering one, in white. So thanks folk for your comments and I hope to see you on the road where bikes should be. Another grouse about the prices of some bikes getting so high and have become investments so apart from a short trip on a sunny day to a bike show not ridden.

Anyway despite all that I have bought one and went for a long ride on it - what a brilliant bike, such a sweet engine and chassis. Looking forward to some long trips on it. ...and as for my knees hitting the tank bars well I will find a way around that.

Well done that man ! - a number of us in the Mid Shires REOC are setting out to Sammy Millers tomorrow - 8 bikes - 5 Himalayans ! - this bike is really getting popular and quite rightly so.

I have been following "Itch Boots," on YouTube, a lady riding around the World, (or close to it) on a Royal Enfield Himalayan , and frankly given some of the roads or rather not roads she has been riding on, she has had little trouble with it. (Just had the clutch plates replaced, which is understandable,)

Yes I have been watching her videos, amazing journey she is making.

I am thinking of fitting a USB power supply to the bike. I have seen videos of people putting the wires direct to the battery but I was wondering if it would better to isolate the power supply through the ignition or is that causing to many problems. Any thoughts people?

I swapped my Bullet EFI for a new Himalayan, they're worlds' apart, it's like arriving in the 21st century! I loved the Bullet but the Himalayan just seems better made, smoother and more comfortable (I am only a 29" inside leg yet can put both feet flat on the ground when stationary). If only the damn compass would work grrrr!!

I have given up with the compass lol
If you want to stop it flashing in calibration mode just hold a small magnet near it and carefully move it to show all poles it normally works fine or you tend to do a lot of North north east journeys haha but at least it's not flashing all the time

Re adding a USB, there is a chap on youtube called Adrian Eades who has fitted one to his Himalayan via a separate fuse box. He has got some really useful and interesting videos. I am also 6'2" and although I don't have a Himalayan (yet) I found it fine when i rode one but there are replacement seats available that are higher so should solve the leg issue.
