Well, that opened up a hornets nest! Thanks for all your comments. Only had the bike a few weeks so presume I've inherited the problem. Took a look at the idle screw and found it to be screwed in tight, so freed it off and set it one- and -three -quarter turns out,which seemed to make a small improvement, (probably wishful thinking), but I noticed the carb to cylinder head plastic/rubber connector was in a bad state and probably not airtight, so I shall replace it and take things from there. If the worse comes to the worse I'll replace the carb.Thanks again for all helpful replies. Reg.
