Sorry, I forgot to say that the first one is for a 2004 Bullet '65, which is just the ordinary Classic Iron Barrel bike with an electric start, snazzy paint job ( "Magic" Black ??), a fluted saddle and crappy leg gaitors !!

As ever in the idiom of Enfield ownership, reality does not equate to expectation. I appear to have old-school, flush-fitting metalelastic bushes in my swingarm. More outdated colonial jigerypokery then...

Fear not young Stinkwheel---------this is taken from our hosts "Used parts and Bikes" and described as from a "Late Indian Bullet".........The bushes don't go the full length and meet in the middle as you suggested earlier but there should be a spacer that fits between the INNER steel bushes such that when you tighten the main through bolt it doesn't collapse those inner ones .......

Aye, that looks like what I have. Good to know it'll push out if it needs to but also looks like it'll need a proper arbour making and the use of a press, which makes it a pro job. Someone down the pub says he used to successfully rattle bushes out of old Jags using an air chisel.

Learning process for me anyway. I was expecting roller bearings or bronze bushes...

Tim is right; using a blow torch won't melt (I shouldn't have said that) the rubber but destroy it by burning which will allow the easy removal of the inner metal part of the bush. My preference would be to remove the bush before powder coating.
