Now that IS a great idea, neat, well made and looks like it works a treat. Well done!! Think I might make one for myself and I have a few friends who may also consider such a sight glass in their return lines as a really useful addition to their bikes. Ian.

Brilliant job Johnny, I can see these sprouting up everywhere (like on my Bullet as soon as I get the bits) I can't quite see the detail on the video. Did you drill and tap the filter body to accept threaded adaptors which were then soldered to the pipes? I think it would be a good idea, until the glass proves strong enough, to carry; a hacksaw, length of flexible pipe and a couple of small clips.

You got it in one Pete, cut the pipe ends off, drilled a larger hole then tapped it and finaly made a couple of brass adapters so that I could solder the oil pipes into.

Mmmm not quite so easy on the 350 as the rocker pipe comes out of the crankcase higher up. Needs a bit of head work.

Pete, I would use an eletric start oil pipe, making the bottom connection (crankcase)a banjo, that way it will give you the room and the extra length of pipe to fit the sight glass If you get what I mean. Hope this helps.

Took the bike out for a fast spin this morning to see how the sight glass faired. Well I did about 25 miles in total with some quick excelerations to boot. It held up wery well indeed, I am now very pleased with it and I will now fit them to my other bikes.

Alan, these fuel filters are readily avalable on ebay, If you want to mount them with just rubber pipes and clips it will take you 5 minutes, I just went the extra mile because I am very fussy with things looking right. It is a little easier with the electric start models as the feed is at the botton on the crankcase but for the kickstart models all you have to do is use an electric start oil pipe and use the banjo end instead of the nut, bend the pipe down then up again to give you the extra length as I told Pete earlier in the thread.

Just to ask Johnny dose this have any effect on the Oil pressure Ie can the Oil flow freely though it at a fast enough rate without raising the Oil pressure especially at high flow rates in other words when the engine is running flat out. as I was thing of doing it myself but the flow rate is my concern or have you removed the petrol filter out of the glass.
