Plan A not a runner, mounting covers gear box drain plug and interferes with the rear brake lever. So it looks like plan B making a mounting plate, using the thread that would be the rear thread of the current mounting plate and using the pillion foot rest mount, which is redundant on my bike other than for the silencer bracket. (Would just need a longer bolt.)
So Monday it is off to the local engineering emporium for some 1/4 inch plate, and 10mm drill.
I will then have to search for someone with a forge to heat and bend the mounting plate when I have finished cutting it to shape. (I don't like cold bending.)
Also the actual side stand I got was mounted on an 8mm pin that had just been riveted in place. I am replacing that with a 10mm stainless swivel pin bolt. (Needs something that strong to take my weight.)

I think it's quite common for trials bikes to have a side stand on the right. It's so it can tuck up out of harms way on the non-chain side.

KC1961, those are just light weight prop stands just to keep the bike upright. I am having to make a heavy duty right hand side stand so I can get on the bike by stepping on the right hand foot rest. (My left leg can no longer be trusted.)

Does any one know if the long threaded each end shaft the centre stand pivots on is just held in place by the nuts on each end, or can I tap it through to the right about 1/4 inch. ( The drawings are a bit of a puzzle they show two split pins holding the shaft in position but there appears to be no holes in the shaft.)

just a thought,,,,,,,, are the split pins shown in the drawing meant to be holding the nuts in place at the ends rather than keeping the shaft in position?

just been out to the garage to check mine (2009 Electra) and there are no nuts. The centre stand pivot is just held in place with a washer and a slit pin on each side. The parts book diagram for the earlier Electra shows the same thing, just washers and split pins, no nuts. So either the diagram is wrong, in which case your model may not have split pins. Or someone has already replaced your pivot pin with a threaded one. Either way I can't see any reason why you couldn't move it across.

Hi, are you refering to the bolt that holds the sidestand or main stand? If the former you can move it over. Vince

Vince the normal left hand side stand in in the case of my Electra X attached to a bracket which is retained by the left hand footrest and a long rod threaded each end that is also the main stand pivot.........
To attach a right hand side stand which uses the same mounting points looks as if all I need to do in the case of the right hand footrest is fit a shorter spacer than the current one...............
The long rod which is the centre stand pivot has a load of spare thread on the left hand side, but not quite enough on the right hand side to accept an 8mm thick mounting plate............
The mounting bracket I need to make with have to be made clear the gearbox drain plug so I can still get a spanner on it.
Luckily I have a cruiser lifting jack for the ball and chains VS800 Suzuki, and my Electra is fitted with and engine "bash" plate. So I can take the tension off of the main stand to see if I can tap the main stand pivot to the right a bit.
