thanks for taking the time to reply, but yes, I've seen the picture of the kit. Unfortunately it doesn't tell me how far back the pegs end up. I'm only looking to move them back an inch or two, so looking at our hosts photo of an Electra EFI with them fitted I'm sure the rearsets are too extreme a solution. It's a little difficult to tell from such a small picture and it only shows one side, but even so, they seem a long way back.

I might give them a call and see if there's a "halfway house", I'd be surprised if there wasn't a market for them, I reckon anybody coming to Enfields from a modern bike would find then slightly odd.

I've had the pegs off the bike this afternoon and it would be a simple job to re-drill the left hand peg and move it back an inch. Unfortunately the right hand one is not so easy, the only feasible option I think would be to cut an inch out and re-weld it.

Incidentally, in the course of this investigating I took a few measurements, my RH peg is 10mm higher than the LH,,, Enfield build quality I guess,,,,,,

Had similar prob with B5 dual seat was strange, uncomfortable on long hikes, my son found the prob lift handle for centre stand had been fitted under seat bracket instead of on top not much but made a more comfortable ride when fixed ah good old indian Q/C.
I would be cutting and welding if it dont work you can always get another footrest or use a single bar crash bar as highway pegs.

scotty I think that's the best thing to try first, unfortunately since I retired I don't have access to the same workshop equipment as when I was working, but luckily I have a mate who can weld pretty much anything. Just need to convince him that my Enfield footrest needs to move up his priority list, a half decent bottle of red should do the trick!

As for the crash bar, yep, that's crossed my mind too, here's a pic of my Transalp, I used a spare handlebar I had laying around in this case but it works very well,,,,,,,,,

" a bottle of red but good aussie stuff none of that french or chile plonk "

lol,,it's a good job my neighbours can't read this Scotty,,,,, I live in France!

Australian wine, not surprisingly, is a bit scarce locally. No worries though, my mate's not that fussy, he'll drink French, or even Chillean, if it's free,,,,,,,

Maybe a small thing but the current C5 RHS footrest fitting is quite different to the older splined type footrest. The C5 RHS has a pair of semi-circular pieces which lock it in one position, and prevents it being rotated back an inch. Use of hacksaw and file can be done to rotate it back (which does not interfere with the kickstart)- which then means it is in precisely the right position to catch your ankle bone when you put your foot down. The left side C5 can be rotated back on its flats, you'll understand when you take the footpegs off. Modify the expendable footrest not the frame ;)

Does the Electra not have splined footrests?

With the foot pegs rotated back, which can be a good 2-inches, the controls are certainly not too far away for a size 8 boot but they do feel as if they are in the wrong place. I have done this but reverted to the original position, mainly because I kept catching my ankles on them and as the bike moves off the peg catches you behind the achilles.

The Woodsman had its footpegs further back but not as far as rearsets, nor as high, I did phone Watsonian about these but they have none left and it may have required a modified frame, definitely not for C5 but maybe Electra?

thanks jefrs, but I think the Electra rests must be quite different to the C5. My RH rest is practically touching the kickstart, it wouldn't be able to rotate backwards at all.

I'm sure the rests could go back an inch or two without the controls being out of reach. The Woodsman thing sounds interesting, I'll try and find some pictures of one, but I'll definitely not be modifying the frame at all.

I had a go at rotating the foot rests back on the C5 but I was sent an earlier model's foot rest that has splines (clue). On the LHS however the C5 footrest is not splined but sits onto a hexagon like a bolt head, and that can be moved back one flat. I got the splined job replaced with the real thing which has a pair of half-moons that lock it in one place. I like to operate on a spare. Then I carved off part of the half moon of the peg (a disposable part) equivalent to one flat. This did move the pegs up and back about one inch. The spacing to the kick start looks to be much the same as the Electra i.e. the Electra's pegs should rock back that far. It is close but the kick start clears it when deployed. But then they caught my ankles so I put it all back where it was. If you look at the unit engines, the pegs were further back but so was the kick start.
