Adrian, that's a neat looking bike. Where do you keep the fuel?

Marvelous Adrian, looks like something off a steam loco!

I would have thought the spring check would over ride the crank pressure forcing it to breathe through the rocker breather

Perorec,

are there several different pipe stubs in your breather can? I think that is the case with the can I took off my 2005 Electra-X years ago. It is possible that the rubber of the duckbill has degraded with age, which is why it will no longer fit properly.

Norm,

that's a fully working BT-H FM1R modified for the Bullet crankcase, and yes, there is a full set of timing gears driving it. There is a TCI sensor coil still fitted to the outer case should I ever wish to convert it to TCI, but it's not wired into anything. I think the larger brass NRV in the crank breather line opens at a slightly lower pressure than the NRV in the rocker breather line.

Les,

let's just say that Bullet Whisperer is no stranger to this engine. That's a Dell'orto PHF36, btw.

Scalyback,

think of our host's item 92674A painted (almost!) to match the bike with chrome side panels. If you ever do get some maroon tank badges sorted, let me know.

Well done Adrian, setting up those timing gears is not a simple job, somebody knew what they were doing to machine the timing cover up

I think I have posted before that the crankcase is actually from an old 350, modified to take the Electra-X top end and timing cover (one oilway to move for the rocker feed). No worries with the timing pinions there, then. On the Electra-X timing cover the bosses are still cast in the alloy for the idler pinion shafts, they just need boring out to 1/2" (one already is) and milling down to set the end-float on the idler gears. If you're using fixed cam spindles the cam spindle housing has to be reamed/bored out from 15mm to 5/8" (15.88mm). A.
