You stop these engines with the valve lifter. To identify parts have a look at the Online Parts Book for the '47 G, page 3, items 43 to 45. I think our Hosts have had these parts re-manufactured recently after a long period of unavailability.

Sorry Micah, I can't help on that. I suggest you email or phone our Hosts, they are very good about resolving these type of issues. They will then be able to ask you directly what you have fitted (or don't have!) and advise what you need. And to answer your other question, if the engine speeds up when you go to full ignition advance you have done it right. About twice the speed sounds ok to me.

Hello Micah, I have looked closely to your photo (real nice bike !), and as it seems there is no bowden cable going out the rear of the cylinder, it could be possible you don't have fitted the valve lifter system. Maybe missed it when you rebuilt your engine. Fortunetly, our host has all the parts, especially the inside lever, that is in the tappets adjusting chamber, and partially hidden by the pushrods. Fitting the cable can be a real patience test, as there is an inner spring on it, an really no place...
I made a mod on my CO about that. I'd be glad to send you some photos (I don't know how to put them on mesages here)
Hope it will help you.

Hi Micah,

Bit of a slow reply from me! Would you have a picture of the valve lifter came together?
I had exactly the same questions as you posed!

Cheers
Jon
