Yep - these screws are right bitches to get out! I struggled for ages with a conventional allen key without success, so I went on e-bay and got a 5mm (I think that's the size) hexagonal bit that I could use with a socket set and they came out a treat! If you persevere with a normal allen key you will eventually chew the screws like Norm said, and then you'll be buggered! Put these words into e-bay "5mm hex key allen socket 10mm hex drive 30mm long" and you will get one for £1.49 + 99p Postage!

Barry only thing is I'm not sure if the early ones are 5mm they may be 3/16th because back in 2002 they were still using imperial threads, I haven't had to remove the E/S primary from one of these early ones

Good to know Gwilly, I had to remove the inner primary from an Apache a couple of months back, not sure what size hex they are, looks about the same, but somebody had put them in with Loctite, got 2 of them out with the impact Allen key, but the third rounded off. I ended up cutting a slot in the head with a grinder and I was able to get it out with the slotted impact driver head. I think the heat created by grinding a slot in the head of the screw probably helped break the Loctite

A "harmonic balance puller" from machine mart does the job of the engine sprocket and clutch puller on a Bullet, and probably much more besides.
