My 350 will pull 70 with relative ease and will cruise at 60 mph all day. I have a ally barrel in standard form an 8:1 piston (not forged) and the improved cams from our hosts. I ported the head and fitted an 1 1/8" 389 monobloc and fitted a homemade fairly unrestricted Burgess styled silencer. Whilst it will pull useful open road speeds being a 350 single it is more suited as a town bike and the most dramatic improvement is in the pickup and general responsiveness. On the open road I often find that I'm head down and that at the higher speeds the wind direction and strength is a serious factor in how quick you go. This is 350 riding and is part of the fun. If it's constant electric torque that you need then get a 1800cc Boulevard or similar.

It was with some reluctance that I posted my initial question, in view of the kind of know it all or half witted posters that seem to frequent all sorts of forums. I think that I took the trouble to write a fairly clear, well written exposition of my situation and questions, and hoped for some informative responses the actual questions posed. I have received a couple, but don't see why people seem to think it necessary to post the 'well if you want superbike performance get a superbike' type of reply; any reasonable reading of my question will see that I was not looking for Vmax or RG500 levels of performance - I have had both of those and 40+ other bikes. If you haven't got something relevant, positive or pleasant to say in response to a polite and reasonable question, then don't say it.

Chris7367: I think you are being a bit unreasonable. The theme running throughout all the responses is clear: your expectations are unrealistic. What you've experienced with your 350 is entirely in line with what others have experienced. That is why everyone is telling you to adjust your expectations down a bit.

There's no need to take offence at this. Lots of times in life reality doesn't match up to our expectations. We can either adjust reality or adjust our expectations. It should be clear that adjusting reality, in the case of a 350 Bullet, takes some pretty serious - Bullet Whisperer-style - interventions. If you aren't willing to go to that much effort, then adjusting your expectations is all that's left.

Honestly, Chris, nobody was trying to be a smart-arse or give offence. They've just been telling you that you shouldn't expect much from a 350 Bullet; that what you are currently getting from it is about right; and that it isn't easy to get much more.

Chris7etc, You can't ask for commemts from the world and then complain when you get them. From your apprehension about asking you knew this was going to happen and I don't think anything was that bad. I remember my first posted question " I've bought this type on back light what's the best way to fit the indicators?" Most said buy something different - which was not the question. You ask the question you'll get every type of answer from helpful to sarcastic, wrong, mis-informed and so on, you have to sort the "wheat from the chaff". Have a nice day.
