Just wondering if there were any follow ups to this post. I'm having the same issue on an '04 Bullet 500 electric start.
The bike starts good but won't rev very well. I can ease on the throttle to get it to rev up a bit but it sputters and dies out pretty easily under throttle. I live in Wyoming, USA, about 6063 ft in elevation.
I've tried an assortment of main jets. I've cleaned the original carb several times and even put a new carb in it, adjusted needle clip to lean it up for higher elevation, changed spark plug, new points and condenser, changed air filter, checked crankcase vent canister (it had a bit of oil in it, is this normal?), messed with various settings with the idle and air mixture screws, cleaned fuel tank, replaced all fuel lines...
It seems to get better with the air mixture screw turned all the way in but still isn't right. If I back the air mixture screw out it gets noticeably worse.
It has new fuel in it. Very frustrating. I can putt around the block okay but the bike won't rev up very well. It seems to rev a bit better with the choke on. It idles great with the choke off. Starts great. Just can't twist the throttle or it dies out.
Any ideas???? Thanks all!! Cheers.
