OK guys----place tongue into cheek and re-read again, and ---er, don't "Judge" me too harshly?---groan---- Well done Leon Novello & Dan Ford (Sussex)--you got the idea. Another blast from the past with Prince Buster. Dan--- you're one cool dude. PS-- I can get my slide out just by rotating the carb. within it's rubber tube.   Sorry Wallace---old farts loosing the plot --again.  Two schools of thought 1) Leave well alone. A standard Bullet will do all that you want that type of bike to do  OR  2) Go for it !! Any of the "Bolt-on" type of mods. have been well-tested and proven down the  years----nowt wrong with your idea. If that's what you want to do. How about a "Ghost Rider" look-alike ?? Careful with that flaming skull though. Cheers.

Well IMHO.

In day to day Normal use I could Not tell the defference, But Found the Mickarb easier to Pull off & Bodge (Repaire)by the road side.(With out Ten Bits flying off it)

So For Daily use Comuiter : Mickarb

Weekend warrior : Amal

Racer: Turbo ;0)

Cheers all Craig

Sorry Dan---just re-read and realised you were referring to the Monoblock Carb, not the Mickymouse item. The nearest I've been to the Old Bailey was " Helping the local Constabularly with their enquiries re}-- alledged speeding in a built-up area on a Honda PC50 whilst proceeding in a Northerly direction".  The case was dropped due to too much laughter in the court room.---(Yeah-right !!)

Thanks Alan R for your words of wisdom and a great laugh! This is my second Bullet, first was a standard 500 too which I bought in 1997 - tremendous bike. This one had a MK2 Concentric and K&N filter and wouldn't go furhter than 10 miles without the plugs sooting up. So I fitted a new Mikarb and a tea caddy airbox and it runs like a wee sweetie. I run it on, don't laugh!, plugs out of my Golf Gti 2l and it's the best plug I've tried and has a great tickover. I fitted an alloy barrel to boot. Will have to have a good think about the carb, after I stop laughing at the banter!!

Thanks for everybody's input on my dilemma.

Oh isn't it great when we discuss things in a light hearted manner but still come up with some sensible ideas :-) A great thread with helpful advice and good will all round :-)

Wallace, interesting about the Golf plugs being just right for a Bullet, what code number are they?

Hi Dan! With regards to the Golf plugs that I use in my Bullet. They are NGK BUR6ET but any equivelent plug for an 8 valve 1997 Golf would do. Each cylinder is a 500cc in the Golf. It gives the best tickover the Bullet has ever had. Let me know if you give it a try.

The Amal carbs look the part I will admit, but if your Micarb is working perfectly Wallace, I would hesitate to change it.

I have a 2000 500 with free flowing exhaust, cone filter and Micarb. Perhaps with more luck then judgement the carburation is spot on.

It did originally hesitate to run at high speeds until someone here suggested increasing the main jet. As an experiment I opened up the main jet with a 1.5mm drill bit and boy does it fly now! I've not discovered what full throttle can do as I'm not brave enough to hang on long enough. For the sceptical reading this, its not running rich and doesn't foul plugs. Fuel consumption may have dropped somewhat, but its worth it!

Hello Wallace & Dan Ford (Sussex)--------I've just had a look at an NGK BUR6ET on Google. Is that the one with 3 electrodes and projected nose ?? Did it not foul the piston crown at all ?? How does the heat rating compare with the Bullet's standard plug ??  Wrth a try I would think.
