Hi Mark,
I have just had a look at the PA2 what were you thinking of fitting it to, will that fit in a 1A distributor housing? I can't see it fitting anything else in the Enfield Twin range unless I'm missing something.

Norm, it's actually an S2 which the Pazon description says it will fit. I have the adaptor too so I'm covered all round if a 1A should show up!

Hi. Ive made the same mistake and bought a Pazon surefire for a twin, and I meant to put it in the Bullet. So will it work? is the only difference the wiring? & a different bolt for use on the enfield? I know this is an old post but its about the only one which deals with my specific problem. Just wanting confirmation from those of you that gone down this road before.

Sorry Alzo I'm not sure, I would try sending it back, Andy is pretty good to deal with from the dealings I have had with him.I haven;t tried the taper to see if a Bullet timing gear will fit, probably a good chance it would. Next difficulty is making an adaptor plate so you can bolt it to the Bullet case and get it exactly right so the gears will mesh correctly, not that difficult, just have to be careful and take your time. I think it should work and use only one plug lead, but can't be 100% sure, but I think it should

Alzo, it's fine, I don't know what Norm is on about (sorry, Norm!), but if your Bullet has the normal contact breaker drive for an Indian Bullet behind the cylinder, and your electrics are 12 volt, it all fits your existing bike without any fancy adaptors needed. The points palte and advance and retard unit in the Indian Bullet is a clone of the Lucas 4CA contact breaker, with the same taper on the A/R unit, so - just like the Boyer - the Pazon parts are a direct replacement.

When I fitted mine I had also bought the twin version of this ignition kit, as far as I can remember the only difference was that it had an extra bit of wire to link the twin's second coil, which I'm sure could lurk happily in your electrical spares bin until you can find a use for it. Otherwise the components in both kits are identical, just fit it as per the instructions (clockwise rotation at the trigger plate), except to ignore any reference to the second coil. Mine started first kick.

Adrian, I guess I jumped the gun, I assumed that he was talking about the magneto replacement for the twin but he is obviously talking about the ignition plate only and the only Enfield twin this was the 1A Inter and possibly Connies with the horizontal distributor but I'm not sure of thatn not sure if it would fit in the distributor housing. I assume Alzo was talking about the plate type because the one I was talking about costs $762 NZ dollars and if that was the case I would be looking to return it and get a refund. Sorry for the confusion

Well that's cleared up, at least! :o) As far as I can tell for the twins, if it's a coil ignition model with a standard Lucas points mounting plate the Pazon should be a straight fit, bit if it's a magneto model, swapping to a Pazon (or Boyer) system needs the mag replacement drive assembly. Now I THINK the Indian Bullet contact breaker shaft and housing fits the twins from the later '50s models as I'm pretty certain Henry Price used one with a Pazon on his Connie-engined Bullet bitsa - I'd have to check to be sure, but if that IS the case it might save twin owners a few bob/bucks. Adrian it could be done, bit of work because you would have to make an adaptor plate to mount it and the position is important because the sprockets have to line up because it is chain driven, but like anything if you dig in hard enough you can make all sort of things fit.

Norm, found the link, it DOES fit, straight on, too! The SR1/SR2 magnetos and the Indian Bullet contact breaker drives all use the same flange dimensions where they bolt onto the crankcase (the factory resorted to adapter plates when the K2F magnetos came in). The correct sprockets are also available, it would seem. Check the pictures out and scroll down for a read of Henry's explanation of the details:

and yes it did save a lot of money compared to an aftermarket mag replacement drive, which definitely WOULD have needed the extra complication of an adapter plate.
