Count Johnny, starting is not 100%,probably 8 out of 10. From cold, turn ignition on(in my case to position 3) check lights and indicators are off, fuel on, wait for float bowl to fill (30 sec?),starting choke lever down, decompressor operated , 3/4 throttle , 3 or 4 good kicks(easy 'cos of decompressor) Then 1/4 throttle , bring up to TDC and just over, and a good long kick and she's away. If not, usually on 2nd attempt. From warm, usually 1st good kick.
Your non standard 3 position switch may be a problem? I would take it out, or rewire it so that in the "run" position the DC supply from the Boyer is connected to one side of your coil, and then another switch to switch the lights on. I use the standard off/park/headlight switch mounted in the casquette for this. Indicators, brake light, and horn are connected directly to the DC supply after the on/off ignition switch.
I did go to quite a bit of trouble to ensure that everything is earthed back to a good contact on the frame, and that all the paint is scraped of at the earthing point. I also wired the bike from scratch, rather than use the existing loom which has a lot of wires I did not need.
I have a problem with a misfire when pulling really hard in 4th gear. So tomorrow I am going to fit a high output coil(German PVL part no 92025) and mount this under the fuel tank with a short HT lead. Currently my standard, original coil is located in the LH tool box, with a long lead. It may be shorting somewhere.
Hope this helps.
