Finally got the centre stand repainted with Tetrosyl underseal paint and completed Pete F's modification with the Grease nipple, this is a great idea and I would recommend to anyone with a bit of practical know how to do this as looking at the standard setup, once the frame is worn there is no fixing it, the stand is also springing back much better now than it ever has in the past.

I don't understand how you guys get a stand to rust. Even with my generally pleasingly oil tight bike the centre stand is a foul oily black area that only gets touched with the toe on my boot. The rust doesn't stand a chance. Perhaps you need to stop doing so much cleaning?
