A silicone grease or spray is best for the rubbers.

I was lairy about using WD40 on the rubbers as it caused the front tyre on my Bonneville to soften and the wires to my ignition switch to recede. However, the good news is that I've got it off but what a battle. I ended up wrestling the bike in a complete circle sideways as I was riving the wheel. I hope it's not this bad to get back on.

It's been well lubricated with blood, sweat and tears so far, will that be OK? :-)

That's OK Jim so long as you mix in a percentage of silicon :)

I've always used talc/chalk dust to lubricate the rubbers, as you use when repairing the puncture, not had a problem on subsequent removals. REgards Mick.

I was interested to read what Gwilly had to say about the rear mudguard.

Am I to take it that the mudguard will hinge upward if you release the stays? If so, then this is golden information.

--------- yes, isn't it ??---- That's a new one on me, I have to admit....I usually place a piece of 1" timber under the centre stand but I'll give this a try at the next tyre change.....
