Only place I have come up against 7mm of late was when I had to pull the flywheel off a Chang Jiang and it was a process of elimination and 7mm was the only size we could think of that might be close.

M7 is not a preferred size but as a replacement for a flogged out 1/4" I suppose it's less invasive than going out to 8mm or 5/16". I tend to make brass inserts to flogged out threads in castings. The Ducati is coming up,for its fortieth birthday and a few of the casing screws have flogged out. I've tapped the 6mm holes out to 8mm and put in a brass collar with a bit of loctite that gives me a nice sharp thread to original spec. I could do it in aluminium but brass is in hand and a better alloy for the job.
