HaHa, Very good. So I'm not sure but maybe the smoking is getting better. I took it for a little ride. If it is water vapour where is is coming from? Fuel tank? Oil sump? The bike has been sat outside unused all season.

Hello MATT, -------- fair comment matey !! for £200 that looks OK..... It's an air cooled engine so it's not water.. Now you've got it running why not give it an oil & filter change (include the air filter as well)---- white smoke at high rpm is probably the rings / bore as you mentioned BUT, give it a few runs and it might just settle down a bit ??--------- Have found this on E-Bay }----- http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Yamaha-TW-125 ... 1e77968cca ---------------- plus lots of the usual aftermarket spares...

Can only say that you have been very lucky when you hot wired the ignition system. This bike has a CDI ignition system and not all are powered up from the ignition switch, in fact some of them are earthed out through the switch so putting a power supply down that wire will give you diagnostic smoke and a fried CDI unit. Also when testing for voltage do not forget to look for AC voltage as well at the coil and into the CDI unit. Also on some small motorbikes you may find AC voltage on the lighting circuit as well.
