Hey Howzie.

Thanks for all your advice an input i very much appreciate it and will look into those things tomorrow morning, i have triple checked everything on the bike and spent about 12 hrs on it trying to sort it, but will keep chipping away, yer am not to concerned about the clutch adjustment can do that when i get it running, but have to get it turning over first.

Hi Patrick. I suspect that your keyway on the shaft has broken in which case the entire clutch just rotates on the tapered shaft. It happened to me.

Hi ROY.

I have the clutch back together, no oil in the motor and the side cover off, i can turn the motor over using my hands on the whole clutch and it has compression and the motor turns over fine, so dose that mean the keyway on the shaft is OK and it is not broken?

Cheers.

Hi Patrick. If you are turning the engine over using your hands on the whole clutch it could still be slipping on the main shaft of the gearbox if the keyway is broken. What happens when you depress the kick start is now important. Can you see if the main shaft, onto which the clutch is bolted, is turning if you press the kick start. If it is turning but the clutch housing is not turning then your keyway is broken. If the mainshaft does not turn when you depress the kickstart then your problem lies on the kickstart side and not with the clutch. Good luck.

Hi again Roy.
Farout.....The keyway must be broken, the main shaft which the kick starter is bolted to turns when you use the kick starter and the clutch housing isent,Dam is that a big job to fix? like do i have to split the cases, ooooo thats not good.

Hi Patrick. If the main shaft is turning but not the clutch housing then the keyway is broken or has fallen out. Very easy job compared to what it could have been. Remove all the clutch plates and pressure plates and unscrew the large nut that holds the clutch housing onto the main shaft. Remove the clutch housing and you will see where the keyway fits into the slot of the main shaft. Good luck.
