Back on topic
I always used to use STP in my A65's when using 20/50, without they used to rattle when hot
Never had the same problem with A10's or A7's

Too late to edit

Thinking on it I seem to remember it was end float in the oil pump gears causing it

I think someone was selling after market gears for the unit twins that solved the problem

Thinking back over 40 years so, could be my memory playing tricks

Cheers Dai

Go on - you all know you want to compare and discuss oils! :D

Interesting stuff, was the experiment showing new against old 20/50 viscosity or a brand comparison?
It was a comparison of Halfords oil which had maybe done just a few miles, but seemed rather thin for a 20/50, against new Morris's 20/50 sample. The Morris's grabbed another 5 - 10 psi in the engine.

Ah thanks, I have the green Halfords in my iron bullet, maybe a change of brand next time! I did google it and a few classic car forums aren't keen on it either.
