Am I lucky?............... 40k miles on andthe original speedo head is working fine without any attention.............The cable has a decent route up into the casquette & the speedometer..............I did change the drive some years ago because the inner cable was slipping inside the drive, for quite a few years I'd wrapped a bit of silver paper round the inner cable end to make it fit until I got round to replacing the drive

Grunda - have you tried one of the repro speedos from our hosts? As an ex employee one of my jobs was to check every speedo for accuracy (those were fun times) and if they didn't meet the 10% rule it was scrapped or sold off as a special offer. About 50% of them failed this requirement so if you have bought one direct from India you have a 50/50 chance of it being ok.

I have to say the Smiths repro that I bought from here and fitted on my Bullet appears to be fairly accurate and has no wavering or needle shake. As an aside, one of the occasional posters here was constantly accusing me of speeding until on a riding course the plods pointed out that the (original fitment)speedo on that posters EFI was wildly optimistic. I will refrain from making any underhand comment about high speed EFI's. Oh damn, I've done it again! ;)

hi to all the chaps ,lets cut to the chase here,my speedo came from india it worked superbley well until the mileeage hit 2000 miles then it went tits up tried every trick in the book ,it works ok until it warms up then it is best described as "shite" i know mr h does all his relevent tests but as i say i know of a young chap who has returned 3 of the said tested speedo,s is the only route to fork out for a reconditioned chronometric from a reputable dealer ? can anybody recomend a reputable dealer ,ive just come into a tidy little windfall and might bite the chronometric bullet so to speak ,be seeing ya
