Another option is to have the existing condenser replaced by one mounted externally when having the rebuild. In this way any future issues with the condenser can easily be resolved. If it were me, though, I have to say that I would opt for the Thorspark. Basically it is a DIY installation of an electronic ignition system that retains the outer shell of the magneto, but replaces the points with a pickup. You can retain manual advance and retard if you wish or have automatic a/r. Several K2F twin owners in the classic bike club I belong to have fitted these and been greatly impressed by how smoothly their engines now run. For one thing the infamously inaccurate cam ring necessitating evening out of the timing on each cylinder is eliminated and the system is wasted spark so the timing is identical on both pots. The system is relatively cheap, saves an expensive rebuild and yet still looks original, though there is a discrete ignition key. Also it uses little power and can be obtained in 12v and 6v, negative or positive earth. A no-brainier IMHO unless an absolutely standard machine is wanted.
