hi/ im rebuilding a basket case 500 bullet and i can not seem to get enough clearance for the spring washer and nylock nut to go on the gearbox final drive shaft
i have enough space on the shaft to just engage the nylock but only just but not the spring washer
this is also preventing the outer primary making contact at the rear of the case as it fouls the clutch
the new clutch came withe bike and the old worn clutch that came with it is the same size
i think the previous owner had the same problem as the outer primary case is spit around the clutch spring plate area
anyone got any ideas please or had a similar problem
happy new year /regards def

I wonder if it's the right gearbox? I have a vague idea that not all the mainshafts were the same length across the board.

Reason I ask is I once bought a basket case and it turned out to be an '03 frame with a 91 engine and a meteor gearbox bodged onto it with a scissor clutch.

Or I wonder if the mainshaft bearing is seated properly?
