Petrol smell in the garage - checked and there is a very slight seepage at the petrol tap.

Haven't looked closely, but just wondered if anyone has experienced this - replacement Electra X tap not listed on our hosts site, so I'm hoping it's just something loose, or needing a washer.

It's getting cold in the garage so I'll have a look tomorrow!

Could well be the figure of 8 O ring that is between the flat base of the tap and the tank.

Our hosts sell a kit.

Best of luck.

Make sure the culprit  is the petrol tap... As it is the lowest point it will get wet also when in fact the tank is leaking from somewhere else.

Jojje, I couldn't believe what a pessimistic reply you gave to my question.  Unfortunately you also seem to be right!!

I cleaned and dried the tank after a good ride at the weekend, and I noticed tonight that the tap is still dry but the bottom of the tank, or more exactly the inside curve over the frame is damp, so it looks like it's a leak on this inside face of the tank.

I wonder if this will be a "PetroPatch" job when it's out of sight, or a job for a tank sealer?  I suppose it depends on whether it's pourous or rusty....at 6 years old I'm hoping it's just a bit pourous.....

I'll check at the weekend - not a job for Valentine's night!

Thanks for input everyone - I'll let you know what happens....
