Hi, I have 3 issues with my 1951 Model G valve gear.
1- I am unable to get the valve lifter to work. the photo shows the lifter in the fully rasied position. As you can see, the lifter is nowhere near engaging, with the collar on the pushrod hex.
2- in order to get the correct valve clearance, the adjuster has to be screwed out so far, that there is only 3/16" of thread left in the pushrod. my first thought was the pushrod is too short.
3- the inlet and exhaust rockers are badly worn. Does anybody know where I can get them refurbed?
I appreciate issue 3 contributes to issues 1 and 2 but the wear on the rockers is appox .5mm
thanks in advance

thanks Nudge- the inlet rod was very slightly longer but not enough to solve the problem. I know the engine was built up from bits, so it may have rods from a different model. both the rods have the collar on the pushrod hex.

thanks for the replies. the valve caps are in place, Vince, so I'll have to look at the valves at some point. this was my cunning plan to bring the collar nearer the lifter, but the material is so hard none of my lathe tools will touch it!
Indian pushrod adjusters fit and are slightly longer, so I'll leave it as is and do without the lifter for now. cheers
