I need to change the spring and ball on a crusader non return valve, the one located under the oil filler/dipstick,it would be a lot easier to do if the oil filler neck that is screwed into the crankcase was removed ,so as to lesson the chance of parts dropping into the crankcase,I have tried to unscrew the filler neck but no joy,has anyone any thoughts please how to do it,I am reluctant to try and gently tap with a hammer and suitable punch against the side of the filler neck

Hi, try gentle tapping from alternate sides in the notch the cap locks .Bear in mind if you do try removing the valve with the fuller neck in situ and drop the ball and spring into oil tank there is the little brass panel marked (do not remove) at the bottom of the inner crankcase to allow access. Vince. Ps used magnetised tools to hold spring and ball
