Hi All,

I am helping a friend resurrect a Redditch 350 Bullet that we think is an early 1950's, it was parked in a shed sine '73 having failed it's MOT for a dodgy tire and not looked at since. It has what appears to be an unusual front brake; it as 2 shoes in parallel with an operating arm on each side of the front drum. The operating cable splits (I believe) and runs down the side of each fork leg. Was this a standard fit? Or unique to a specific year/model? Any information gratefully received, thank you.

Earlier model Bullets were fitted with 19" wheels, the front one being equipped with the RE double-sided 6" front brake. There should be 2 front brake cables going from the the handlebar lever to each side of the wheel (there's a special 'balancer' fitted at the lever to equalise the pull on each side).

Later models (I think those after 1959) were fitted with smaller 17" wheels and a single-sided 7" front brake.

If you can attach a picture to your messages we can probably tell you a bit more about the bike. The double sided front brake was used on other models too.

What sort of electrics is it fitted with, magdyno (up to 1955), or magneto and alternator (up to 1959)?

Thanks for the replies. It's fitted with a magdyno. I won't be able to get pictures until the beginning of March when I'm next at the shed where the bike is being worked on.
