In my 2001 350 bullet, I recently discovered a large crack in the black rubber tube between my air filter and the "tea caddy" box where the air filter is located on early bullets. I only replaced this tube a year ago - annoying to have it crack so soon.

Can other bulleteers advise me on whether its a good idea to revert back to the early style setup with the filter in the tea caddy box, thus freeing up the right hand tool box to be a tool box again? Is there any effect on performance? And is it worth using our hosts S&B performance filter in there? Or is a standard early style filter fine.
