Hello there Mr Haggard !!--------If you use Photobucket the images will only be displayed for a short time here on the forum, then disabled by Photobucket who eventually will want you to pay these things --> ----> ££, $$$ etc....As I use an Ad-blocker I can't download your photos for listing on here ( others might be able to ?? )........Try using this instead}------ https://imgbb.com/ ----- Also, over in the "Social" section in the thread entitled "Problems with British Engines" I've asked our friend Hardhat_Barry if he could post some photos on this thread of a 1948 Model G engine that he's dismantling...Might be of help re}-- that de-compressor ??

Hello and thank you Allan R. I am not really fey with this posting regime and its skill set, a bit like my mechanical abilities. I can't see the photos at my end so I am unsure if they are visible at yours. I will check out the post you mentioned and see what eventuates.

Hopeless Rider maybe but good mechanic definitely (or perhaps maybe just experienced) you hit the nail on the head with the lash caps. I followed the parts all the way up from the tappets to the valves till I found a missing one. Thanks to all for your help, and to Allan for giving me the heads up on forum-ing with pictures. Therefore if ever you hear that the valve lifter doesn't, then take Hopeless Riders advice and check the lash caps.

Hi Guys-----Hi Tad and a HUGE "well done" to our friend "Hopeless" for getting that stem cap solution......Now then, please don't take this next observation to be "sour grapes" on my part etc. but dear Tad, if you had been able to post a photo of the top end of the engine earlier on most of us would have spotted that a cap was missing..........and a lot of single-finger typing avoided..LoL !!..........If you like I'll start a new thread as a stage-by-stage tutorial for loading photos.....It's quite easy and as you progress with your re-build you can show us all your results... Meanwhile, what's going on with this thread's appearance ???...........Mind you, posted at 03.26AM it has a right to look bleary I suppose ???.......PS}---- see what I mean about Photobucket ??

Hello Allan et al, would have gladly posted pictures earlier but I am even less experienced as a poster. Your abilities aren’t lacking however and there was an economy to your explainations of how to post pictures. I imagine that a tutorial would be well patronised and you are understandable. Go for it. While I’m at it, is it posible to search the forum? As for the time, I live in Queensland, Australia, about three hours inland from the coast. I have the only “G” for many miles. Can’t work out what happened with the last post, probably something to do with the fact that from your perspective I’m writing this upside down and from mine, you’re reading it that way.
I know myself however and I will be on this forum again for sure and there will be a gallery of problems documenting with pictures the progress of my build. Unfortunately time is the problem, I don’t have much spare, which is not so bad as parts take their time getting here.
Cheers and thanks again to everyone,
Tad Haggard
