Did the 1952 have painted black wheels out of the factory I have noticed it on quite a few Model G restoration pictures?

Does the club have a Model G expert, I feel a bit daft asking on the forum the most basic questions about how the bike should look as standard and the bits missing from my project build.

Not a definitive answer but that could well be the case as around that time we had a chrome shortage and many makers had to paint parts which would normally be chrome.

Yes 52 was the Nickle shortage year. I had a M16S with painted wheels of that vintage.

The Korean war never stopped, only a cease-fire, so the British motorcycle industry could get some nickel, er, I think that`s how it goes.
