Hi, I remember seeing similar back in the 70s available from deeprose bros, the brake cams were curved on one side and flat on the other to fit standard shoes. The photo would appear to show no floating pivots so could be adapted India backplates. Vince

No, on this one they were definitely custom machined back plates - the Redditch double-sided drums are only 6" in diameter, the Indian TLS are 7"

There are 6" TLS Indian brake plates out there. They are rare but I've seen the odd one come up on Ebay for instance. There is a question over whether you could fit one on the right side as these plates are 'handed'. Here's a thought, if you only had one, could you fit it and have a TLS on one side and a SLS on the other? It would be no worse than having a large drum brake working through the torque stay on just one side? Just thinking aloud!

You're welcome.

I don't know if our French friend was aware of the ultra-rare Indian 6" 2LS brake, but I think if I had the skills and tooling I'd want to make a mirror-image matched pair of back plates from scratch. You could be waiting a long time for another 6" TLS brake to show up.
