Hi, I have a 2015 500 EFI Classic, Battle Green, with about 3600 miles on the clock. Recently I have noticed a high frequency rattle or vibration that seems to be linked to RPM. It's a bit intermittent, and will occur no matter if the engine is in gear and on the road, or on the centre stand running in neutral. Doesn't seem to be related to engine temperature. As near as I can figure, it's coming from the engine itself, but as with most noises, very difficult to establish the origin. Any Ideas out there? I've checked all mountings, screws and bolts, connections etc. to no avail. Also, can anyone tell me the best way to check the oil level in the primary case on this model. No little drain hole at the bottom that I can find.

Cheers,

Jack

The oil level in the primary drive is self-levelling and cannot be checked, nor is there a need to do so. The unit construction engine has several inter-connected compartments of which the primary chaincase is one. That is why it's hard d to get an accurate oil level in the sight glass. Can't really help with the odd noise. My LE Despatch C5 makes assorted Ines that come and go. Could it be the reg/rectifier vibrating? The bracket holding it to the frame has been known to fracture. I've put a cable tie on mine to stop it vibrating in harmony with the engine. Low speed rattles are usually the auto decompressor.

Hi,i get vibesbon a 2016b5 reckon its to do with primery chain tensioner which i beleive is oil operated. you can ride for an hour with vibes stop for a bit when you take off again smooth as. fells like when you get tensioner too tight on a iron barrel other times feels as if prim chain is way to slack gets chain snatch even in top on opening and closeing throttle, makes you wonder why they didnt go for a gear drive.
Was talking to a indian bloke he says b5 enfields are about 2500aust dollars in india we pay over 8500 must send each bike out air freight ha ha. if you complain to dealers you get the usual it will be better with a few klms on the clock
