Hi all, I am trying to remove my 2003 sixty 5 front forks. After removing the fork top sealing screws I can see a 1/2 hex nut inside each fork. After some research it says that the nut should be removed by turning clockwise from top, as opposed to newer Enfields where you unscrew it counter-clockwise. Both fork nuts are locked tight, I have tried cheater bars, 1/2 impact gun all to no avail! Any suggestions? I have tried counter clockwise as well also nothing is shifting.

That was quick - I spent some more time on the site and found my solution. I was a bit of a plonker! I could not find any detailed description on the web, luckily found another message on this board. I was trying to unscrew the nuts from the head, what I should have done was just screw the entire fork tube down out of the head - this worked great. Just need to get 2 new nuts where my previous effort has damaged the hexagons a bit.!!!

The external thread on top of the fork stanchions is a right hand thread, so looking down on the casquette top that means you do indeed need to rotate them CLOCKWISE to undo. The older style forks on the 2003 models do not have a removable screw cap at the top of the stanchions.

Someone posted on the same problem a while ago, it turned out he had forgotten to undo the pinch bolts on either side of the bottom fork yoke...

There are different types of fork for the later C5 and B5 EFI models, the stanchions have caps which unscrew to allow access to the fork internals, some are on a left hand thread, some right hand, but this does not affect the older UK market models on their original forks.

Your second/third post crossed with my reply to your first, in case you were wondering. Glad you have worked it out.
