Hi Richard and Mark. I bent the front downtube forwards by 3/4" measured at the lower front mounting hole and also trimmed in front of the swingarm mounts. This enabled me to keep the lower of the two front mounting holes [cut off by some] and also keep the small bracing tube beneath the top tube and be able to remove and replace cylinder heads with the engine in situ. I made my own alloy engine plates. The engine is tilted forwards a little, so the cylinder slopes forwards, a bit like that of a Tiger Cub - this also gives a bit of carburettor downdraught and a lower centre of gravity, which is handy for racing! We have added extra tubing above the gearbox, a bit like the pre '56 and Indian Bullet frames have, for extra strength and stability at speeds of up to 115 mph! It is a bit quiet here today, so I might make a video, showing what was done. This machine and three other R.E.'s in our team will be racing at Darley Moor this weekend, if anyone wants to take a look. Regards, Paul.
