Hi
The hose from the air filter to the carb on my 2008 Electra X has perished (like all the rubber on this bike), and has holes in it.
Can anyone advise what part I need and where I can find it? I can't see anything on the Hitchcocks site (or anywhere online) to fit this model...

While I have your attention, has anyone fitted the K&N replacement air filter and found it to make the advertised improvement in performance? If not £45 seems like a lot to spend on an air filter...

Thanks Folks

Our hosts have fortunately put the parts lists on line for most of the post-war models, British and Indian imports. Sometimes you need more than the accessory catalogue!

This page has what you're looking for, http://www.hitchcocksmotorcycles.com/pa ... arburettor - item 41 on the diagram, part number 500823.

I haven't used the K&N replacement in the standard airbox, my Electra had the modification by the previous importer to use a larger filter with a Dell'Orto carb. You can also remove the airbox altogether and fit a small conical filter, there is just enough clearance to fit the side panel. If you want a bit more clearance for a slightly larger pod filter, the Electra EFI side panel has a bigger cut-out. There is another post running which includes ric's info about tuning the standard Electra-X CV carb.

The K&N may not make much improvement without a free-flow exhaust, but it won't need replacing. If you do that and have an EFI you then need a Power Commander 5 (because both will confuse the ecu). If you have a carb you may well need to re-jet and adjust. Imo the most noticeable increase will be more torque, mid-range grunt.

Thanks guys - I have the bit I need now... Can anyone tell me the best way to get it on? I can't see how to remove the air-filter box and I can't squeeze it into position...

Thanks

Once the side covers are off I think you have to remove air filter box outer and the battery tray to unbolt the main air box moulding, I will check and let you know if it's any different. A.
