hello cummunity;
I'm trying to separate the two flywheels (not from my Enfield but from an old Matchless motor) to change the bearing of the connecting rod, but they are stuck on the crank pin... any idea how to get them apart without using brute force?

Get three or four good heavy bolts the correct length to fit between the flywheels put nuts on them space them round the flywheels and gradually undo the nuts a bit at a time and they will act as spreaders, heating the flywheels near the crank pin also helps.

I recently split the crank on my B44 using two lenghts of steel I beam, a sledge hammer and a bronze drift. Went in one blow.

feedback:
The method with bolts and nuts worked fine --- very soft and without brute force.
Thanks again for the advice

The indian method is to use big hammers and steel levers. If that doesn't work they use bigger hammers.
