I reckon they're aimed at indians who want a Harley. Indian styling and colours are pretty garish like a seaside fairground at times. I reckon they should make an export model if for no other reason to replace the Electra. We only get the old style Classic and Bullet and the not-so caff-racer CGT. I also think they miss a trick with the CGT by not giving it a padded dual seat, sit-up bars and less rear-set on the pegs.

Everyone to their own - but those mods on a CGT would not do much for me. A similar model of the 250 CGT was sent to the USA in the mid 60s - and best place for it!!

If memory serves, RE(England) produced the 250 Continental-GT and the Crusader models, and the earlier Clipper. The Crusader was no caff racer.

Personally I dislike riding feet-forwards, so not attracted to a full-on cruiser like the Thunderbird but it is a more modern looking model, and things like foot pegs and bars can be fixed. If RE have any sense they'll dream up some export options for it.

RE produced a US model Continental GT in 1966 for export only with raised braced bars and no fly screen. With the standard big red tank and seat it looked awkward and very much an ‘after-thought’ – or possibly a ‘no thought’!

As far as I can work out the Continental 250 had rear sets and a shell headlamp whereas the Crusader/Crusader-Sports had a casquette and footpegs in the normal place, trials bars would work on the Crusader. There are some butchered Crusaders masquerading as Continentals out there, ace bars don't work well without rear sets.

The rearsets on a Redditch Continental GT are just about where standard footrests ought to be, under the saddle nose. The footrests on the standard Crusaders are far to forward in my opinion. And the Crusader Sports was a cafe racer, ace bars, twin clocks, 10.5 to 1 compression ratio, chrome tank, all the bits to get a 17 year old desperate to sign the HP agreement!
