I'm baffled. 2006 350 Bullet. Purring along happily on Sunday, started to misfire, then total electrical failure. Broken battery earth wire fixed, then started briefly but ammeter showed very large current drain and then stopped for good (fuse blown).

Findings so far:

One very burned out LED bulb in one casquette pilot light. Iffy looking ignition wire connection at points, now removed.

13V at both ammeter terminals, even with ignition switch off. Huh?

13V at horn, coil and handlebar switch, goes on and off with ignition switch, as expected.

Voltage at handlebar switch disappears when light switch operated (and at the same time the battery charger stops thinking it is connected to a battery).

Coil resistances 3Ω across primary, 7000Ω from primary to secondary. I think that's OK.

I suspect a short somewhere in the lighting circuits, but I'm baffled by the voltage at the ammeter that doesn't get to the horn, coil or handlebar switch. All I can think of is a burnout somewhere that has made and broken some random connections.

Any thoughts before I start to tear down the wiring?

Another quick query -- horn button is on the earth side of the circuit, but where does it earth to? I can't see any ground wire either on the bike or the wiring diagram.

A start -- ammeter issue solved. The ammeter has been wired so it comes before the ignition switch, rather than as shown in the wiring diagram.
