John M, the magnesium alloy cased motors were very late, possibly as late as 1959, a desperate move to keep the bikes competitive. The early units like yours were aluminium alloy I'm sure. I'll have a look at my copy but have you seen the photos in Don Morley's book? There is something else too, would you email me at Trials59(AT)yahoo(DOT)co(DOT)uk and I'll discuss it further.
