There was a very nice looking B50MX, but street legal with V5C, that sold for £3200 on ebay the other day!

Simon, probably the main difference with the earlier models from the workshop manual point of view will be that your 1970 should have the Triumph-style shuttle valve forks used from the 1969 season and the 7" TLS full-width front brake, roadsters only though, not the Victor Special, and slight changes to the front mudguard bracketry as a result. The '69 on will have UNF/UNC threads all over the show, and I think the centre stand is a bit wider at the top with a frame lug to suit. No oil tank side panel, and small steel panel to match on the L/H side. I can't think of any other impending discrepancies between the parts book and the shop manual, but BSA usually came up with a few changes for each model year.

Yep you nailed it. According to my engine number mine was August 69 ive just gleaned from the B50.org site but it is exactly as you say. The mess of different threads and head sizes is a sad indictment of the era but was expected. The strangest thing from a bloke who has meddled mostly with Enfields or Italian machinery is the use of Posidrive screws in the cases. Whilst im tempted to go to allen screws i do like to keep things as original as possible so will just have to copeImage
This is a pic of it as i purchased. Assembled for the camera. It is now in tiny bits.
