My poor EFI Bullet has unavoidably been stuck for most of the year in a cold damp garage.

It now has spots of rust on the chrome. What do you folk think is the best way of removing this rust and restoring the chrome to a gleam?

If it's not too pitted I'd try Solvol Autosol.

Also use some jenolite to stop any remaining rust spreading.

Brillo pads will knock the rust off without damaging the chrome. Then spray with "Instant Garage" aka ACF50, available from Mr. H or a good bike shop. But not a bad one. its waxy formulation keeps off moisture but if any little iron atom dares to oxidise it is immediately zapped straight into phosphate by a cheeky dash of phosphoric acid.

Bike was received from new with rust spores on the spoke nipples. The oily rag cured that. Oil on rag, wipe, done. I mean it's old school but that has worked really well on the chrome brightwork.



Chrome cleaner is Solvol Autosol. It does contain an oil but do use the oily rag afterwards too.



Oil only prevents rust, it does not cure it. Waxoyl (clear or black) cures rust, Jenolite and Fertan tend to visibly stain.



There are a number of 'sealers' for car paint which fill micropores and stops rust starting. Good old carnuba based car wax works too.
