Hi everyone, can you tell me what type of intruder alarm batteries , size, etc are used by you on your bikes.

A burglar's pest battery may be as little as 2Ah, alarums not needing a lot of juice. Current bike battery is 14Ah, when it dies I'll probably go for a lithium.

I don't need an intruder alarm, my reputation means I don't need one.

Assuming kick start only, then surely the requirement is only enough to energise coil for easy starting/tickover, and enough to keep side light and indicators going for a short while should you stall in the middle of the road at a junction etc at night?

Someone asked me what battery I use & where it came from, sorry someone for I forgot. I might beable to get to the garage soon & have a look. But to answer a question here, for kickstart models it is a 5ah battery

Papasmurf Our burglar alarm is an airedale terrier, very effective too. Ah, the screaming in the night. Doesn't have a battery.

I have an intruder alarm battery on mine at present. It is a size of 151 x 65 x 98mm. I have placed it with the long side vertical and the terminals at the top facing away from the bike in part of the battery bracket. I've just cable-tied it on. I doubt that the battery cover would fit on. My bike is a Lightning, which has a two-part seat and the battery just makes it without being crushed. This has been done as a temporary measure and as such seems quite workable. I made short leads with a female spade terminal for the 4.75mm wide battery blade connector at one end and a smallish croc clip at the other. This would allow quick disconnection if necessary. The batteries of around this size have capacities of 6.5 to 9A.hr (probably at 20hr rate), and are available in VRSLA(valve-regulated sealed lead-acid), Gel, and lead-crystal. I have an 8A.hr gel type and so far going well. Sometimes the connectors have a wider blade of 6.35mm. An electric start bike would need a heftier battery and may have a bolt and lug at each terminal.
