In the bottom of the pannier is a galvanised steel plant pot saucer I found in our greenhouse. But the C5 sidestand is a bit of a design fail, it is either too short or descends at the wrong angle meaning the bike is leaned over too far resulting in too much pressure on the foot which although fairly large, is not big enough to prevent it sinking in to off-road parking. I remember one bike had a large Jubilee clip added like a protruding heel bone was sufficient to prevent sinking.
