Well...
I checked the chain tension, rotated it, found there was a slightly tight spot, and adjusted for that. the slipper as mark mentioned, is indeed steel, but seems not to be groovy, even for a bike that was built as the sixties were coming in. The Goo / particles did seem to be rubbery stuff, so again, the clutch bedding in.
Still not had time to get the timing side case off yet? Loosened the screws but seems stuck. Do have a rubber mallet though... um... Its just them cross head screws isn't it?
